Ji Ram Ji Bill passed amid protests in Lok Sabha, opposition tore paper and threw it in the House

On December 18, 2025, the Ji Ram Ji Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha amid huge protests. The opposition created a ruckus when the bill was passed and tore the papers of the bill and threw them away. The atmosphere of the House deteriorated so much that the proceedings had to be adjourned till tomorrow.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan replied on the bill

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh replied in the Lok Sabha on the Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Bill i.e. VB-G Ram G. During this time the opposition kept raising slogans against the bill. Opposition MPs reached the well and threw papers.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, ‘We do not discriminate against anyone, Bapu is our inspiration and faith. The whole country is one for us. The country is not just a piece of land for us. Our views are not narrow and constricted.

Shivraj demanded to continue the debate

Congress MP KG Venugopal asked the Speaker that this bill should be sent to a standing committee or joint parliamentary committee. However, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha rejected the request saying that the bill had been debated for more than 14 hours. Meanwhile, when the opposition started sloganeering, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan demanded to continue the debate.

Craze for naming Congress

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh said, ‘How many schemes were named after the Nehru family. 55 state government schemes were named after Rajiv ji. 74 roads were named after Rajiv, 15 national parks were named after Nehru. Congress has this obsession with naming names.

Let us tell you that Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said on December 16 that we oppose this bill. The obsession with changing the name of every scheme is incomprehensible.

This bill was discussed for 14 hours

Earlier on Wednesday, the VB-G-RAM-G bill was discussed in the Lok Sabha for 14 hours. The proceedings continued till 1:35 am in the night, in which 98 MPs participated. The opposition demanded that the proposed law be sent to the standing committee. This will replace the 20 year old MGNREG Act.
